This photo is from The East Coast Meridian 10 mile race. My young cousin Zac Mellard sacrificed his own race to run with me for my age category AT record attempt at Patrington on the 20/05/18. Thanks to Zac’s encouragement it was a success with a time of 70.53.
On the 23/06/18 I ran my first ever 3,000 metres at the Sheffield Masters Grand Prix. In fact, apart from a 1 mile attempt at Nottingham several years ago, it was my only run on a track since my school days. I came late to competitive running, encouraged by one of my sons when I retired and then my local sports shop owner ex– International Julian Moorehouse.
I was last in the multi-category race and lapped by the winner but I was delighted to find my time was a Masters UK record.
I’m looking forward to meeting Northern Masters colleagues on the 25th for the 5K event.
