Latest Message from the Club

Dear NMAC members,

The committee of NMAC wishes you well and hopes you are keeping safe and healthy during these unusual times that we are experiencing. We have not heard of any of our members who have been struck down, or worse, by the virus but would like to hear if you know of any who have.

With the easing of some of the lockdown restrictions you are at least able to exercise twice a day and also to have
a coach present when training. This must be a great help to those athletes who do have a coach and be a step on
the road to regaining full fitness.

At our latest video committee meeting we again looked at the possibility of putting on any events for you and the
organisation that this would require. As always we are guided by what the Government, UK Athletics and
England Athletics recommend. Our newest members of the committee, Caroline Marler, who takes over from
Arthur Walsham as President and our new secretary, Alina Stepanchuk, who is Helen Harrington’s replacement
have been attending the Zoom meetings. It will be great when we can welcome them to the meetings with a hot
drink and a tasty bite as in the past.

We were hoping to run the 5K Championships on July 1st at the East Cheshire track. As we thought, it was a little
early in the scheme of things and it has now been cancelled. We had thought about putting on the 10K Road race at Spenborough on the 13th September but again feel that this may be too early so we have rescheduled it until November and will hope to include it in with an existing race.

We have the 10,000m Track Championships at East Cheshire track on October 4th. Depending on numbers
involved we are looking at what we may need to do to make this as safe as possible for all those involved..
The 5K Road Championships are also being rescheduled, hopefully for December at a venue to be announced
later.

We are looking at holding the Track and Field Championships, possibly in September and are working on a
format which will help to keep officials and participants safe and healthy. It may be a totally different
Championship from what you are used to depending on UKA guidance and whether we will still have to social
distance.

We hope that the above events can go ahead as planned and that you can prepare yourselves in the anticipation
of finally competing in the sport that you enjoy. By putting the events on later in the year we hope that they will
stand a much better chance of going ahead. All details will be on the website or on the Facebook page, as well as
entry information, so please check regularly.

Our AGM is scheduled for October 4th. At present we are hoping to hold it in conjunction with the 10,000 Track
Championships. If that is not possible then we may have to be held as a Zoom meeting. Further details will be
available later. Zoom meetings are a very efficient way of communicating as long as those participating can
operate the system. It also saves much unnecessary and costly travel. We hope many of you will join in if we do
decide we have to have a Zoom AGM.

As a committee we wish you well and hope that you continue to stay safe and healthy and look forward to seeing
you in the future at the various events that have been planned.

Stay Safe and Healthy.
On behalf of the NMAC committee,
Philip Lee
Chair NMAC
