NMAC are pleased to announce the opening of our new webpage. Like you, the committee has been frustrated at not having a website where we can put out the information that you, the members require. We are now fortunate to have a new provider and hope that it will prove useful in providing you with the information and news that you require.
However, even without a webpage, we have been able to provide some of you with competition. There have been two Run, Jump and Throw events held in Sheffield on evenings in which the best runner, thrower and jumper received a trophy based on Age Graded Results. We also held a very successful NMAC Track and Field Championship on 16th July at Leigh Athletics track.
We have not forgotten the road running members of the club and are holding the 10K championships in conjunction with Holmfirth Harriers on October 15th. Details will be on the Holmfirth Harriers website. Keep looking on their site as well as ours for information of how to enter.
NMAC are also hoping to put on a 5K championship later in the year when hopefully all the details will be available on the new website.
As you can see, we are able to put on events if held in conjunction with other events. This may be how it evolves in the future, unless we get more experienced members to help with the organisation. You may not want to be a committee member but could be prepared to assist when NMAC are holding a Championship. For example, there was a shortage of helpers at the T&F championships which meant that fewer people had to do more of the work. With a few more helpers, they didn’t even have to be track officials, it would have been possible to have given some helpers a break. If there had been enough it would have been possible to have planned for them to cover half a day, rather than the whole day.
We would like to thank you all for the patience you have shown while the website was out of action and information was limited. We hope that with the commissioning of a new website that life will be much easier for all members and that it satisfies the needs of the club.
I would also like to say a big thank you to the committee who have worked hard at keeping the club going while the website has been down. It has involved a great deal of extra work and time in order to ensure that NMAC was in a position to provide members with competition and keep the club functioning on a month to month basis.
Yours in Sport
Phil Lee, NMAC Chair
