Burnley NMAC T&F Series a massive success

On the 15th May Burnley AC driven by the efforts of Steve Goodwill but supported by the entire club hosted their first Masters Track and Field Series event.

Attended by over 60 athletes the event had the usual laid back atmosphere but also some close competition and even a British Record!!

Congratulations to John Watts on breaking the M80 Shot Put record!!!

We also had our first (in memory) photo finish decision in the 400m which apparently I won by a chest hair, both athletes being given the same time!

These events are a fantastic showcase for our sport – in cameraderie, friendship, competition but also as there are no youngsters we can have a lot more fun than at most events – typified by thrower (former multi eventer really….) Dan upton doing the high jump to great support from fellow athletes!

Full results can be found here and on Po10.

If anyone would like to host one of these events it is fairly straightforward: NMAC will:

  • Promote the event
  • Help out with officials where we can
  • Cover any shortfall first time out

Any profits made on the night after expenses such as track hire are yours to keep.
