It is so good to see the sun shining at last. It must make training so much more of a pleasure these days. I saw a runner out the other day in shorts and a T-shirt and thought how brave they were and then I noticed they were wearing gloves which seemed to contradict the warmer weather appearance. When I lived in Cambridge most of winter I would be wearing a long sleeved top, several if it was freezing and a pair of Ron Hill tracksters which were not removed until at least halfway through April and Cambridge was always 2 or 3 degrees warmer than the North West. ( check temperatures on the weather charts)
The Mid Lancs T&F league has its first official meeting on April 12th at Preston. So far 16 members have signed up to compete. Carol Holt, Team Manager, will contact everyone who has requested to be entered within the first week of April as no entries are allowed on the day. You can get in touch with Carol at, carol_holt40@outlook.com
The Road Race Championship will also be up and running shortly as the first nominated races will be on the calendar. At present 16 runners have registered to participate in the event. The later you leave it the fewer races you may have to chose from. As this is the first try at running this type of competition, NMAC are very interested in how the competitors find the format and any improvements which they would recommend for any future competition.
News for the future is that the NMAC T&F Championships are scheduled for August 10th at Trafford. Further details will be released nearer the time but for all you multi-eventers it is a date to put in the diary.
While we are talking T&F, here is another date you may like to note. It is hoped to hold the EMAA Outdoor T&F Challenge on August 17th at Hull. EMAA are still in the process of finalising the meeting but where ever it is to be held it will be somewhere in the NMAC area.
The Postal Half and Full Marathon finish on the 31st March for the 24/25 year. Entries will close after April 25th so that membership details etc can be confirmed. Results will then be put on display for public viewing. NMAC would like to thank all those who have entered either or both of these competitions in what was an inaugural event and that you have found it useful in making your own decisions which events you would enter. NMAC would be interested in hearing if you would like the event to continue.
While looking at other area clubs websites to see if there are any ideas that NMAC could use, I discovered that some clubs only send out 5 newsletters a year. How lucky are NMAC members who get a monthly one. A news letter that almost got nominated for the Booker Literacy prize for fiction. See how lucky you are.
Enjoy the warmer weather training and the lighter nights and remember the NMAC motto
