JULY 24 NEWSLETTER
NMAC hopes that you are being able to make use of the warmer weather and lighter nights to increase your training and therefore your fitness.
The Track and Field Championships were held at the end of June and a large number of athletes took part on a day that was cooler and wetter than earlier in the week.
NMAC would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to those who made the event possible.
First thanks goes to Darren Scott who organised the whole event on behalf on NMAC. Next in line are the Officials without whom the meeting would not function. NMAC appreciate the time and expertise you give to making any event a success. A thank you also goes to all the helpers who worked on the administration on the day providing athletes with numbers, results and times and medals. A final thank you must be to all The Athletes who supported the meeting and contributed greatly to making the event what it was by their efforts on the day. Thanks to you all.
Dates for the Diary
July 7th will be the 10K Championship which is being held within the Halifax 10K. However you may be too late to enter this event.
July 13th there is a Masters Grand Prix at Sheffield details on the website. This is not a NMAC event but will give members the opportunity for more competition.
BMAF Track and Field Championships will be held at Derby on 26th -28th July. Entries and details are through the BMAF website. Closing date is 13th July.
NMAC are looking for athletes to compete in the EMAA Inter Area T&F Challenge on 7th September. The event this year will be held at Corby, Northamptonshire. If you are interested in representing NMAC please contact Paul Barlow @ [email protected] We are hoping that some of you are walkers or willing to try it and could provide valuable points in NMAC’s bid for the trophy.
Those of you who are interested in running over the country then there is an opportunity for you to represent England at the British and Irish Masters Cross Country International. The England Cross Country Selection Trials are to be held at Betley near Crewe on 28th September. Further details are on the EMAA site via the BMAF site or you can contact our selection representative, Sue Cordingley,
For our members who like a longer challenge the BMAF Marathon is scheduled for Chester on the 6th October. It is good to have a National Championship in our area were the travel will not be so great. Details again on the BMAF website.
Finally NMAC are holding their 10 Mile Championship within the Preston 10 Miles Road Race on the 17th November. Should you wish to participate in the event then look up Preston 10 Miles Road Race and details of how to enter are within the general information. Entry has already opened so it should not be left to late if interested.
Those of you who did attend the T&F Championships were quite impressed by the variety of Club clothing on view and many of you purchased items for which NMAC are very grateful. If you take a look on the website you will be able to view the clothing, if you have not already done so. Contact Caroline Marler at [email protected] if you require any clothing.
It would appear that there is much to keep you involved and the above events are only some of which there are so keep looking at the website for information of any other events.
Keep fit
Phil Lee NMAC Chairman
