BMAF Heptathlon Champs Connah’s Quay 1/2 June 2924

Beautiful weather and lovely to share it with the youngsters from NWCE.
Shame not more people entered- only 11 women over all the age groups. More people should try multi events – it’s such fun( well, apart from the last event!).Women’s results from last weekend ‘s BMAF Heptathlon Champs at Connah’sQuay.
Out of the 11 women, 3 were from NMAC .
Afroditi Kalambouka and Beverley Horsfield, both W50 have only been doing T and F for a couple of years and this was the first Heptathlon for both of them . So well done !
The third person was me, Caroline Marler.
Beverley had bad luck pulling her calf in the second event, the high jump so could only participate gingerly in the remaining events and had to leave out the 800m. She showed great promise though and won a bronze medal with her 1547 points total done on one leg most of the time.
Afroditi gained the silver medal. After a tricky start with the hurdles, she gained momentum and finished with 1723 points.
Myself, trying out the event after a time away, was happy to complete it and being the only W70, won with 3706 points. I was 4th out of 11 taking age graded scores into account but about 1000 points down on 2 years ago, so work to be done!
Other NMAC members working hard were Cath McGrath timekeeper and Alex Rowe( NMAC Committee member) who was dealing with the results in a little room under the stands.
W70 Caroline Marler (NMAC) 1st
W50 Beverley Horsfield NMAC(3rd), Amanda Broadhurst (1st), Afroditi Kalambouka (NMAC) 2nd
Cath McGrath Timekeeper
