March 2025 Newsletter

March 2025 Newsletter

There is much that is good to include in this newsletter and it is well worth reading if you want to find out what NMAC is doing for its members.

The good news is that membership is gradually increasing and in February we had 555 members. Hopefully all new members will find something in the club that will encourage them to stay on.

The Postal Half Marathon and Marathon championship closes on the 31st March so you will only have a short time left to submit entries. If you do can you remember to include your age category, club you belong to, the event you ran in and time you achieved. Hopefully there will be another in 2025/26 if you so wish. It has been a reasonable success and has meant that you select the event, normally near to your residence, rather than have to travel to a one off event which may be on the other side of the country.

The problem with NMAC is that we cover an area that is 4C’s. Coast to Coast and Cumbria to Cheshire. It means that where ever we hold our Championships it could mean a large amount of travelling for many members. With this in mind we have introduced the Road Race Championship which means that runners can compete in events much closer to their residence while still competing in a championship. Full details of what you need to do regarding entry are on the website and have been sent out to all members via Facebook and email. Should it be a success then it could be continued in the future.

As stated in February’s newsletter, the T&F side of athletics has not been neglected in that NMAC has gained entry to the Mid Lancs T&F League (MLTFL). This will give athletes an opportunity for more competition in their chosen section of athletics over the summer. As you know competition always brings out the best in a person. Again hopefully if it is successful then it could be continued in the coming years. Once again all details have been sent out and are also on the web page should you need to remind yourself.

If you remember a few years ago we wanted to do the same for those interested in Cross Country by participating in the MLXCL. However there was a disappointing response from members with regards to NMAC involvement so it was decided not to go ahead as it does cost NMAC a good deal of money to enter. Hopefully if NMAC decides to try again then there may be a better response.

A date for the future is August 10th when NMAC will be holding their T&F Championship at Trafford. As you would expect full details will be communicated later but the date is one to put in your diaries. Many of you like to compete in the Championship so we are giving you early warning so you do not miss it.

Remember NMAC have offered to pay for those members who would like to qualify as officials.

At the moment NMAC are working to complete all the paper work that needs to be done so that NMAC can be registered with England Athletics. NMAC have appointed a Welfare Officer and are looking to appoint others to assist the WO. Some of you may already have completed the qualification for your UKA club. As previously mentioned NMAC covers a very large area and we are looking for qualified members who could assist our WO by being available to act in a specific area near to them. If

you are interested in assisting the NMAC WO then please get in touch.

That is about all for this month. It has been good to show what your club is doing for you. Hopefully there will be something for everyone to participate in.

Now it is up to you all to get fit for what is coming up.
