NMAC AGM 27th October 2024 -Report from the Chair

NMAC AGM 27th October 2024

Report from the Chair

It has been an interesting time since the last AGM in April 2023. NMAC have worked hard to provide competition for its members. Sometimes it has been a success, at other times it has not been so successful.

Once again the Track and Field Championships organised on our behalf by Darren Scott at Leigh Sports Village attracted a great number of athletes and the competition between the athletes was intense at times. NMAC would like to that Darren, Leigh Sports Village and all the officials who gave of their time to make this meeting a success, as wel as the athletes who supported the event

NMAC also supported events such as the RUN, JUMP and THROWS and evening meetings at York in order to provide competition for their members. Unfortunately due to difficulties in getting officials ( a problem all over the country) NMAC were unable to stage some other planned events. It is hoped that they will be added to the calendar next year.

NMAC staged their 10K Road Championship within the Halifax 10k. However only 17 members competed on the day. I am sure that there are more members who are road runners but for some reason did not want to compete. NMAC will keep looking at providing road competition for those who so wish it.

Many NMAC members competed in non NMAC events and were very successful. NMAC members had a good day at the EMAA Cross Country Trials and many were picked to represent England at the International in Belfast in November.

The NMAC Track and Field team were second overall team at the EMAA Track and Field Challenge at Corby in September. Congratulations to all who represented NMAC so well and a grateful thank you to Team Manager Paul Barlow who organised the team.

NMAC were also second team in the EMAA Cross Country Challenge held within the BMAF XC Championship in North Wales.

I would specifically like to thank all the members of the committee who have worked so tirelessly to ensure that NMAC continues to bring you opportunities to compete in your favoured disciplines. Without their involvement there may not be a NMAC as, unlike you, it cannot run on its own. I would like to thank them all for continuing to give their support to NMAC, in the forth coming year, to ensure that NMAC can continue to promote athletics in the area.

Finally NMAC would like to thank all its members for the continued involvement you have with the club so that the Committee’s work is not in vain.

Yours in Sport

Philip Lee Chair NMAC October 2024
